Sequencing batch reactors SBR or sequencing batch reactors are a type of activated sludge process for the treatment of waste water. SBR reactors treat wastewater such as sewage or output from anaerobic digesters or mechanical biological treatment facilities in batches. Oxygen is bubbled through the mixture of wastewater and activated sludge to reduce the organic matter (measured as biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD)). The treated effluent may be suitable for discharge to surface waters or possibly for use on land.
Demineralization or Deionization is the process of removing mineral salts from water by using the ion exchange process. With most natural water sources it is possible to use Demineralization and produce water of a higher quality than conventional distillation.
Water softeners remove hard undesirable dissolved minerals that result in annoying white scales on fixtures, appliances and piping. Softening the water produces immediate benefits – reduce usage of soap & detergent, cleaner clothes, and better tasting food and beverages.
Reverse osmosis is the process of forcing a solvent from a region of high solute concentration through a membrane to a region of low solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure.
This is the reverse of the normal osmosis process, which is the natural movement of solvent from an area of low solute concentration, through a membrane, to an area of high solute concentration when no external pressure is applied. The membrane here is semi permeable, meaning it allows the passage of solvent but not of solute.
Dust Colectors or a Dust collection system is adevice or set of arrangements to collect dusts from industrial sources via hood and transported it to dust filtering or cleaning device via ducts. At air cleaners the dusts are removed from air stream using various methods and finally filtered air is passed to atmosphere via Industrial Blower and chimney.Dusts as it gets smaller, its too dangerous. Any dusts of sizes lesser than 2.5 microns can get pass through our lungs into our blood stream and affects our health severely. The severity of dusts varies depending on nature of dusts, its chemical compositions, temperature, sizes and particle loading etc. These dusts should be effectively captured and filtered before passing it to atmosphere as per Pollution Control Borad Norms and industrial hygiene standards in order to improve health, safety and productivity of employees and also to protect the Environment.
The cyclone is a separating chamber wherein high-speed gas rotation is generated for the purpose of “Centrifuging” the particle from the carrying gases. Usually, there is an outer downward flowing vertex which turn into an inward flowing vertex. Involute inlets and sufficient velocity head pressure are used to produce the vortices. As multiple, small diameter vortices with high pressure drop appear to high cleaning efficiency, that type is now being exploited. Skimming cyclones shave off the dust at the periphery of the vortex along with a small portion of the gas flow. This concentrated flow is then led to a secondary chamber for final separation. The factors which affect the performance of this collectors are gas volume, particulate loading inlet velocity, and temperature, diameter to height ratio of cyclone and dust characteristics.
Wet collectors, or scrubbers, are commercially available in many different designs, with pressure drop from 375 pa to as much as 25kpa. There is a corresponding variation in collector performance. It is generally accepted that, for will-designed equipment, efficiency is a function of total energy input per unit of volumetric flow rate whether the energy is supplied to the air or to the water. This means that well-designed collectors by different manufacturers will provide similar efficiency if equivalent power is utilized
A Bag Filter is an air pollution controlling industrial equipment used prominently in a Steam Boiler House assembly. It is used to control the levels of sulfur dioxide and others. There are different types of Bag filters such as Shakers, Reverse Air and Pulse Jet Type with, Pulse jet type being the most promising one of outstanding results. A Pulse Jet type Bag Filter consists a Four-sided hollow metallic body which is conical at the downside. Also, a vertical squirrel cage type arrangement is there for supporting and holding the filter bags. These squirrel type cages are covered by filter bag material. After covering these cages with Filter Bags, it appears as like a Pipe like geometry downside of this cage is blind while the other side is open for the flue gases exit and pressurized air inlet.
During the operation of a steam Boiler, the flue gases leaving the boiler enters the Bag filter body. Now these flue gases come in contact with the outer surface of the filter bags(pipe-like). As the ID Fan creates a continuous suction effect, these flue gases try to enter the cage.
So the bigger size dust particles get collected at the surface of the Filter and flue gases leaves Bag Filter through the outlet. Now these dust particles which are attached to the surface of the Filter Bag are separated by the pressurized air supplied by the Pulse jet system installed at top of the Bag filter. This pressurized air enters through the opening from where the Flue gases leave the Filter Bag and this air being pressurized hits the inner surface of the Filter Bag. The dust particles being at rest gets separated thereby justifying the law of inertia. These dust particles, thus separated, gets collected at the bottom bit of the Bag Filter with the help of a Rotary Air-Lock valve. Thereby completing the operation
